Cruise Experience by Denise Smith

We had a great 2 week cruise on the Yasawa Princess in March 2014. We went to a different island every day – some large with lots of vegetation, some just a sand-bar. The crew took umbrellas across for us so we could sit in the shade and most islands had a great reef for snorkelling. Where there wasn’t a reef we went in the small boat to a reef. Some days the boat took us out to one end of the reef so we could snorkel with the current along the edge of the reef back to the island. The snorkelling highlight for me was the night snorkel where we saw huge nurse sharks (harmless plankton eaters) and enormous jack fish very close up – wow!
We also spent quite a lot of time on the comfy sun beds under the canopy of the bridge deck – very relaxing. The cabins were very comfy with enough storage space. The buffet meals were excellent, with plenty of choice – always including very fresh fish caught by the crew. Drinks are plentiful, even including the cocktail of the day – different every day.
My husband had his 70th birthday during the cruise. The cabin was decorated as was the table at dinner, and the crew sang happy birthday.
Above all, as well as being a great adventure, this one of the friendliest holidays we’ve ever been on – the crew were tremendous – nothing was too much trouble, and we made some great friends among the other passengers.
This is quite a different holiday from being on a resort island – and a much better way of really seeing the Maldives.
